Slow Food Hong Kong rings in the festive season with a Polish Christmas Dinner

Christmas celebrations in Poland are usually comprised of three meals – Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and the day of the Epiphany.  We will take parts from each and combine them into one sumptuous meal.

We will have the privilege of sharing the traditional Christmas dishes and traditions of the Piotrowiak family, who hail from Jarocin, a town in western Poland.  Many of the dishes will be holiday recipes that have been in the family for generations.

Dinner will start with the Christmas tradition of “breaking the oplatki”.

The menu will include dishes that are only served at Christmas time.  There will be barszcz, bigos, makielki and pierniki.  But, we will also have traditionally prepared herring and rabbit pate with rowan jam.  And, of course there will be pierogis.

This feast will be accompanied by Polish homemade wine, from a grandfather’s recipe, and other wines and spirits.

N.B. All beverages are included in this dinner so there is no need to bring anything other than your appetite and festive cheer.

Places are limited so do register early.
